NQTTCN MENTAL HEALTH FUND

NQTTCN Mental Health Fund
THIS FUND OFFERS FREE & REDUCED COUNSELING TO QUEER AND TRANS PEOPLE OF COLOR
The Mental Health Fund (MHF) for Queer and Trans People of Color began in 2017 in response to the increased violence, threats, surveillance, and instability following the presidential election in 2016. The MHF provides financial assistance to queer and trans people of color to increase access to mental health support for QTPoC by QTPoC*. The program is designed to provide financial support for QTPoC to work with psychotherapists in an effort to address the economic barriers inherent in healthcare and the mental health system.
The organization is supported by The National Queer and Trans Therapists of Color Network (NQTTCN), which is a healing justice organization that actively works to transform mental health for queer and trans people of color in North America. Together they build the capacity of QTPoC (queer and trans people of color) mental health practitioners, increase access to healing justice resources, provide technical assistance to social justice movement organizations to integrate healing justice into their work.
Their overall goal is to increase access to healing justice resources for QTPoC.
The Groups Vision is Impressive:
“We envision a world where all people have access to healing resources rooted in social justice and liberation to recover from trauma, violence, and systemic oppression. We specifically acknowledge the harm and violence perpetuated by the medical-industrial complex and actively work to both intervene directly on this system as well as create new systems of care for our communities.”
